Designed by Pio Piacentini and inaugurated in 1883, the Palazzo delle Esposizioni is a monumental neoclassical exhibition hall on Via Nazionale, the largest exhibition space in central Rome. It holds no permanent collection, instead staging an ambitious, ever-changing program of major art retrospectives, photography, design and science shows. The building also contains a cinema, an auditorium, a café, a restaurant and a library, and is run by the City of Rome's Azienda Speciale Palaexpo.
