1963 von Philip Johnson gemeinsam mit Richard Foster als Wohnsitz für David und Carmen Kreeger entworfen, öffnete diese mit Travertin verkleidete Villa aus kreuzgewölbten Kuben und Kuppeln 1994 als Museum ihre Pforten. Die Sammlung reicht von den 1850er-Jahren bis in die Gegenwart: neun Gemälde von Claude Monet, eine das gesamte Schaffen umspannende Werkgruppe von Picasso sowie Arbeiten von Renoir, Sisley, Pissarro, Degas, Cezanne, Munch, Kandinsky, Chagall und Miro, ergänzt durch Washingtoner Künstler wie Sam Gilliam, Gene Davis und Thomas Downing. Im Außenbereich erstrecken sich die Sculpture Terrace und der Sculpture Garden über ein 2,2 Hektar großes Waldareal mit Skulpturen von Henry Moore, Isamu Noguchi, Jean Arp, Aristide Maillol, Jacques Lipchitz und George Rickey. Wechselausstellungen im Rahmen der Reihe The Collaborative bringen zeitgenössische Kunstschaffende aus dem Großraum Washington in die Räume des Hauses.
