Das von Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt entworfene und 1723 als repräsentative Sommerresidenz von Prinz Eugen von Savoyen vollendete Upper Belvedere blickt über barocke Gartenanlagen hinab zum Lower Belvedere. Heute präsentiert es die Schausammlung des Belvedere unter dem Titel „Schau!“, die von Cranach bis Maria Lassnig reicht. Zu den Höhepunkten zählen Gustav Klimts „Der Kuss“, Werke von Egon Schiele und Franz Xaver Messerschmidts „Charakterköpfe“. Im Carlone Hall des Schlosses sind wechselnde zeitgenössische Interventionen zu sehen.
