Der von Zaha Hadid entworfene und 2014 eröffnete Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) ist das weltweit größte dreidimensionale Freiformgebäude. Seine nahtlos geschwungene Hülle aus 45.133 Aluminiumplatten umschließt auf 86.575 Quadratmetern Ausstellungshallen, ein Designmuseum sowie Veranstaltungs- und Markträume; hinzu kommt ein Dachpark. Auf dem Gelände des ehemaligen Dongdaemun Stadium in Seoul errichtet, hat sich das Gebäude zum wichtigsten Zentrum der Designkultur in der Stadt entwickelt. Hier finden Fashion Weeks, Designmessen und Produktpräsentationen sowie das regelmäßig veranstaltete Medienkunstfestival Seoul Light DDP statt, bei dem nach Einbruch der Dunkelheit großformatige digitale Kunstwerke auf die Fassade projiziert werden. Der Eintritt ins Gebäude und auf das Gelände sowie der Besuch des Design Store sind kostenlos; für einzelne Ausstellungen und Veranstaltungen in den Hallen sind separate Eintrittskarten erforderlich.
