Seodaemun Prison History Hall

Construïda pel Japó imperial el 1908 amb el nom de Gyeongseong Gamok, aquesta presó de maó vermell va empresonar activistes per la independència de Corea —entre ells la màrtir adolescent Yu Gwan-sun— al llarg de vuitanta anys de domini colonial, divisió i dictadura, abans de tancar el 1987. Se’n conserven onze edificis originals, inclosos els blocs de cel·les, una cambra subterrània de tortura, torres de vigilància i l’edifici d’execucions, amb un túnel ocult per retirar-ne els cossos. Des del 1998, el recinte funciona com a museu d’història i parc memorial, dedicats a la lluita per la independència de Corea i a la seva història política moderna.
