El Museo Cerralbo ocupa el sumptuós palauet madrileny que el dissetè marquès de Cerralbo va fer construir entre les dècades de 1880 i 1890 per exhibir les seves col·leccions privades. Amb ben poques alteracions d'ençà que va obrir al públic el 1944, el palau continua mostrant pintures, armadures, peces arqueològiques, monedes i arts decoratives exactament tal com el marquès les va disposar als seus salons daurats, la sala de ball i la biblioteca. Ofereix un contrapunt íntim, concebut com una autèntica càpsula del temps, respecte als grans museus estatals de Madrid.
