افتُتح National Hangeul Museum عام 2014 بجوار المتحف الوطني الكوري في يونغسان، ويروي تاريخ هانغول – الأبجدية الكورية التي ابتكرها الملك سيجونغ العظيم عام 1443 – من خلال فن الخط والمخطوطات التاريخية وصالات العرض التفاعلية. وتضم مجموعته نحو 90 ألف قطعة، توثّق ابتكار الأبجدية وقمعها في ظل الحكم الاستعماري وانتشارها عالميًا في العصر الحديث، إلى جانب متحف مخصص للأطفال ومركز لتعلّم هانغول. وقد ألحق حريق اندلع في 1 فبراير 2025، أثناء أعمال التوسعة، أضرارًا جسيمة بالمبنى. والمتحف مغلق حاليًا لإجراء إصلاحات إنشائية وتوسعة، ومن المقرر إعادة افتتاحه في أكتوبر 2028؛ وفي هذه الأثناء، تتواصل المعارض والبرامج التعليمية في مواقع شريكة في أنحاء سيول.
