Fresh Collection Galleries
Two-thirds of the third-floor galleries rehung with 30+ works from the vault, pairing Sherman with Baldessari and Kiefer with Kara Walker; new works monthly.
An Urs Fischer lamppost, about 11 feet of cast aluminum, bends over as if melting in its own heat, and its bulbs still glow. It is one of more than 30 works The Broad has brought out of its vault this autumn.
The rehang covers nearly two-thirds of the third-floor collection galleries and arrives in stages through October, so new works go up each month. It runs on pairings: Cindy Sherman's early-1980s photographs beside John Baldessari, Fischer beside Jonas Wood's big domestic paintings, Anselm Kiefer's lead-and-mistletoe Das Balder-Lied beside Kara Walker's 11-foot-wide cut-paper The Mountaintop, added to the collection in December 2025. The Murakami gallery has changed too. You stand under Warhol's 13-foot Rorschach, a blot he invented because he thought patients drew their own. "I wish I'd known there was a set," he said.
It's free with general admission (book a timed ticket), and Thursdays run until 8pm. The reinstallation unfolds through October.

Andy Warhol, Rorschach (1984)
An inkblot over 13 feet tall that Warhol made by painting one side of the canvas and folding it to print the other.

Alex Israel, Self Portrait (Selfie and Studio Floor) (2014)
A painting cut to the shape of Israel's own silhouette, taken from a selfie in his studio, wearing his own brand of sunglasses.
Cindy Sherman, Untitled #571 (2016)
Sherman posed as a silent-film actress against an obviously fake backdrop, printed in vivid color on metal.
