أسّسه الرسام Antoni Tàpies عام 1984، ويُعرف اليوم باسم Museu Tàpies، ويضم إحدى أكثر مجموعات أعماله اكتمالاً، وقد تبرّع Antoni وTeresa Tàpies بمعظم مقتنياتها. افتُتح المتحف عام 1990 في مقرّ دار النشر السابقة Montaner y Simón (1880–82)، وهو مبنى من طراز Modernista صمّمه Lluís Domènech i Montaner، وكان أول مبنى في Eixample يُدخل الطوب المكشوف والحديد إلى وسط المدينة. وتتوج واجهته منحوتة Tàpies السلكية المتشابكة «Núvol i cadira» (Cloud and Chair). وإلى جانب المعارض المتناوبة لأعمال Tàpies، يستضيف المتحف معارض للفن المعاصر، ويضم مكتبة متخصصة في الفن، ما زالت كتبها محفوظة على الرفوف الأصلية لدار النشر.
