SOMPO Museum of Art occupa un edificio dalla caratteristica struttura curva e rivestita d’acciaio, alla base della torre che ospita la sede di Sompo Japan a Nishi-Shinjuku. La collezione nasce da una donazione testamentaria del 1978, comprendente opere del pittore giapponese Seiji Togo, e oggi conta circa 640 pezzi. Il suo fulcro è I Girasoli (1888) di Vincent van Gogh, acquistato a un’asta da record di Christie's nel 1987. Il museo conserva inoltre opere di Gauguin, Cézanne, Renoir e Grandma Moses e propone un programma a rotazione di grandi mostre con opere in prestito.
