SONGEUN è uno spazio d’arte contemporanea senza scopo di lucro, fondato nel 1989 dalla SONGEUN Art and Cultural Foundation per sostenere gli artisti emergenti della Corea. La sua spettacolare sede triangolare a Cheongdam-dong, progettata da Herzog & de Meuron e completata nel 2021, è stato il primo progetto dello studio svizzero realizzato in Corea. Il premio di punta della fondazione, il SONGEUN Art Award, sostiene gli artisti contemporanei coreani dal 2001; la facciata dell’edificio in calcestruzzo, con una texture che richiama le venature del legno, evoca il significato del suo nome: «pino nascosto».
