Progettato da Zaha Hadid e inaugurato nel 2014, il Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) è il più grande edificio a forma libera tridimensionale del mondo: il suo involucro continuo e curvilineo, composto da 45.133 pannelli di alluminio, avvolge 86.575 metri quadrati di spazi che comprendono sale espositive, un museo del design, aree per conferenze e mercati, oltre a un parco sul tetto. Costruito sul sito del vecchio stadio Dongdaemun di Seoul, è diventato il principale polo cittadino della cultura del design. Ospita settimane della moda, fiere del design, lanci di prodotti e Seoul Light DDP, festival ricorrente di media art che, dopo il tramonto, proietta grandi opere digitali sulla facciata.
