I Brueghel. Le origini dei generi pittorici in Europa

Orain ikusgai2026(e)ko irailaren 29(a) – 2027(e)ko urtarrilaren 31(a)·15 €

Italy's first major show on the Brueghel dynasty: 80+ paintings, drawings and prints tracing how they shaped landscape, still life, peasant and battle genres.

In 1595 Cardinal Federico Borromeo invited Jan Brueghel to Milan and put him up in the archbishop's palace. The Flowers in a Vase he painted for Borromeo is one of the show's major loans, and it comes from Milan's own Pinacoteca Ambrosiana.

More than 80 paintings, drawings and prints follow three generations. Pieter Bruegel the Elder swaps Bosch's demons for mud, snow and village feasts. His son Pieter the Younger runs a workshop that repeats those hits in variants, and Jan travels to Italy and adds paradises, allegories and myth. Attribution is part of the story: the Antwerp Wedding Dance, long taken for the Elder's own hand, is now credited by recent studies to an early copyist. Copies sold as the original: every vintage stall at a Navigli Sunday market.

Tickets are €15, or €17 for an open date. Families pay €10 for one or two adults and €6 for ages 6 to 14. Thursdays stay open until 22:30; closed Mondays.
