Tate Modern

ArtClosed · Opens 10amFreeSouthwark

Tate Modern turned Bankside's decommissioned power station into one of the planet's great art spaces. The permanent collection is free and runs from Picasso and Dalí through Rothko and Warhol to contemporary installations. The Turbine Hall commissions are reliably spectacular — monumental works that exploit the building's industrial scale. The views from the restaurant and the Switch House extension are worth the visit alone.
