Dissenyat pel mateix director de Studio Ghibli, Hayao Miyazaki, com un «museu on perdre’s» deliberadament laberíntic, aquest edifici de Mitaka, a prop del parc d’Inokashira, no té un recorregut fix i modifica periòdicament la seva distribució. Entre els punts més destacats hi ha les sales «Where a Film Is Born», que recreen l’estudi d’un animador; el Saturn Theater, on es projecta un curtmetratge original que no es pot veure enlloc més; el Cat Bus de la planta baixa, per als infants; i un Robot Soldier de cinc metres de Castle in the Sky, que custodia el jardí del terrat.
