El National Hangeul Museum va obrir el 2014 al costat del National Museum of Korea, a Yongsan, i ressegueix la història de l’Hangeul —el sistema d’escriptura coreà ideat pel rei Sejong el Gran el 1443— a través de la cal·ligrafia, manuscrits històrics i galeries interactives. La seva col·lecció, d’aproximadament 90.000 peces, abasta la invenció de l’alfabet, la seva supressió durant el domini colonial i la seva difusió global moderna. També inclou un Museu Infantil propi i un Centre d’Aprenentatge de l’Hangeul. Un incendi durant les obres d’ampliació, l’1 de febrer del 2025, va causar greus danys a l’edifici.
