Dissenyat per Zaha Hadid i inaugurat el 2014, el Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) és l’edifici de forma lliure tridimensional més gran del món. La seva closca contínua de panells corbats —45.133 peces d’alumini— cobreix 86.575 metres quadrats i integra sales d’exposicions, un museu del disseny, espais per a conferències i mercats, i un parc a la teulada. Construït al solar de l’antic estadi Dongdaemun de Seül, s’ha convertit en el principal centre de cultura del disseny de la ciutat, on se celebren setmanes de la moda, fires de disseny, presentacions de productes i el festival recurrent d’art mediàtic Seoul Light DDP, que, un cop fosc, projecta obres digitals de gran format a la façana. L’accés a l’edifici, als espais exteriors i a la Design Store és gratuït; les exposicions i els actes que tenen lloc a les sales requereixen entrada i es paguen a part.
