El Musée Gustave Moreau ocupa l'hôtel particular de París on el pintor simbolista Gustave Moreau (1826-1898) va viure i treballar, i que va transformar en els seus últims anys en un museu dedicat a la seva pròpia obra. La planta baixa i el primer pis conserven els seus apartaments íntims, mentre que dos amplíssims estudis de l'últim pis, units per una espectacular escala de cargol de ferro forjat, estan penjats a l'estil «salon» amb centenars de pintures, aquarel·les i dibuixos. La col·lecció compta amb aproximadament 1.200 pintures i uns 4.800 dibuixos, molts d'ells esbossos i obres inacabades guardades en armaris a mida dissenyats pel mateix artista. Obert al públic el 1903, la seva disposició gairebé no ha canviat des de llavors.
