El museu nacional de l'edat mitjana de França ocupa un conjunt d'edificis excepcional: les termes gal·loromanes Thermes de Cluny, amb el seu imponent frigidarium del segle I, i el flamíger Hôtel de Cluny, d'estil gòtic. La seva col·lecció d'uns 23.000 objectes medievals inclou tapissos, vitralls, ivoris, escultura i orfebreria. L'estrella indiscutible és el cicle de sis tapissos de la Dama i l'Unicorn, una de les grans obres mestres de l'art europeu. Una gran renovació coneguda com "Cluny 4", enllestida el 2022, va reorganitzar les sales i va afegir un nou pavelló d'entrada de vidre.
