El Museu Nacional do Teatro e da Dança conserva la col·lecció d’arts escèniques més gran de Portugal: més de 300.000 peces, entre les quals hi ha vestuari teatral, dibuixos i maquetes d’escenografia, attrezzo, cartells, programes, enregistraments, partitures, fotografies i caricatures. Ocupa el Palácio do Monteiro-Mor, un palau del segle XVIII situat a Lumiar, i disposa també d’un centre de documentació i una biblioteca amb uns 40.000 títols. El museu és tancat des de l’1 de novembre de 2025 per dur a terme una rehabilitació integral de l’edifici i el jardí, finançada pel Plano de Recuperação e Resiliência (PRR) de Portugal; encara no se n’ha anunciat la data de reobertura.
