El CCCB és el centre de cultura contemporània de Barcelona, amb un focus especial en la ciutat i la cultura urbana. Ocupa una part de la Casa de Caritat, un antic hospici construït a partir de 1802, que els arquitectes Albert Viaplana i Helio Piñón van transformar el 1993 amb la incorporació d’un volum de vidre inclinat que reflecteix els terrats. Les seves grans exposicions temàtiques combinen art, ciència, història i disseny, al costat d’un programa intens de conferències, festivals i cinema. No té una col·lecció permanent; les exposicions canvien diverses vegades l’any.
