Two copies of a film handbill printed to look like a dollar bill sit in this show. They promoted ¡Bienvenido, Mister Marshall! at Cannes in 1953, and got it reported to the festival for counterfeiting money. Like most of what's here, they come from Luis García-Berlanga's private archive, now state-owned and shown publicly for the first time.

More than 220 pieces are laid out as one long tracking shot, his signature move, in a set by Carles Berga. You walk through his study, a film set and a 1950s cinema, past his trouble with the censors and his fears of death, the future and women, and end at a falla: a Valencian bonfire of props from his films.

The show has toured Barcelona, València, Sevilla and Zaragoza; reviewing it in Zaragoza, AACA Digital called the staging "magistral". The €6 ticket covers every exhibition in the building, though booking isn't open yet. An educator is in the room daily, 11:30 to 13:30 and 17:30 to 19:30.

Ez galdu

  • The falla

Look for the closing bonfire built from props of his films, among them Plácido's motorcycle cart, a bicycle, a boat, a coffin and American flags, wrapped in simulated smoke and fire.

  • The tracking-shot camera

In a space set up as a small film class led by his son José Luis, you run an overhead camera along a rail to make your own tracking shot.

  • His 1962 Oscars pass

Look for the autopass and programme from the 34th Academy Awards, held in April 1962 at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in Los Angeles.

  • A drawing by Chaplin's granddaughter

Oona Castilla Chaplin, daughter of Geraldine Chaplin, made this drawing for Berlanga in the late 1980s; the archive also holds his letters with Charles Chaplin.

  • His teenage film list

A handwritten list of the French films he watched as a young cinemagoer in the 1940s.
