1802an hasi eta jatorrizko egitasmoaren arabera sekula amaitu ez bazen ere, Palácio Nacional da Ajuda Portugalgo errege-familiaren egoitza nagusi bihurtu zen 1862tik aurrera, Luís I.a erregearen eta Maria Pia erreginaren agintaldian.
