South Korean artist Mire Lee installs a moving, almost-living structure of silicone, steel, motors and liquids exploring desire, decay and transformation.

Part of this show already exists in Vienna. Mire Lee's Secession exhibition, which ran this summer, had a slanted wall crusted with a dried viscous substance and a cement mixer turning sluggishly behind it. Secession says fragments of that show will become part of a site-responsive work in the Oude Kerk.

Lee was born in Seoul in 1988 and lives in Amsterdam. Her sculptures move: silicone, steel, motors and liquids assembled into structures the Oude Kerk describes as almost alive, circling desire, vulnerability, decay and transformation. She has said that "a body that rots is a body that has lived, that has been touched, held, connected." The church's medieval wooden vault is the room they will work in.

The show runs 13 November 2026 to 7 March 2027. Tickets are sold at tickets.oudekerk.nl, and the church is open 10:00 to 18:00, Sundays 13:00 to 17:30.

Erredakzioaren aukera

Mire Leek Oude Kerk — Amsterdameko eraikinik zaharrena — silikonaz, altzairuz, motorrez eta likidoz egindako egitura mugikor eta ia bizidun batez betetzen du. Desirari, gainbeherari eta eraldaketari buruzkoa da.
